Cheri Trahan Keene received her Bachelor of Science degree from Texas A&M University in health education. She attended Texas State University at San Marcos where she received a Master’s degree in secondary curriculum and instruction, graduating magna cum laude. She also holds a Master’s degree in counseling from Lamar University where she graduated summa cum laude. Cheri is currently a doctoral student at The University of Texas at San Antonio where her research focus addresses mental health provider stigma related to clients experiencing serious mental illness. Her clinical background encompasses work within acute care behavioral health settings, public schools, and college counseling clinics with a primary focus on clients with a history of serious mental illness and/or trauma. In the course of her education, Cheri received training in trauma focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT) and other trauma related techniques. She currently lives near San Antonio with her husband and enjoys reading, working puzzles, and spending time with family. Cheri was recently named the Northern Region Liaison for the Colorado Counseling Association.
