DBT Support Persons Group

Our DBT Support Persons Group is designed to help family members and significant others of individuals enrolled in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) learn and implement the DBT skills in their lives. This group is structured more like a class, and members will learn skills based off of the four modules of DBT: Mindfulness, Emotion Regulation, Interpersonal Effectiveness and Distress Tolerance. Skills are discussed in order to provide experience in using the skills personally and to support your loved one’s use of skills. Each week, participants will engage in lecture, discussion and skills practice!

Topics covered include:

  • biosocial theory and general DBT information
  • mindfulness
  • validation
  • dialectics
  • how to manage a crisis and not make it worse
  • how to assert yourself
  • behavior change and managing behaviors
  • how to name and regulate emotions

The typical course of the class is 10 weeks. The cost is $65 per family, which includes up to 2 people. We ask that each family purchase our DBT skill binder (a one-time $10 purchase) so they can have access to the skills worksheets and information.

The DBT Support Persons Group meets remotely on Tuesdays from 6:00 – 7:30 pm. If you’re interested in joining the group, please message us via email at info@sanantoniodbtcbt.com or call or text us at 210-906-8428!

Please note: This group is currently paused for the summer, but will resume in the fall.
