Emily attended Texas State University, completing her undergraduate studies in Elementary Education. After graduation, she worked as a preschool, elementary school, and outdoor education teacher before having children. She returned to school in 2020 to earn her master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Walden University in 2023. While working towards her master’s degree, Emily had the opportunity to work as a group second at the Center for Dialectical and Cognitive Behavioral Therapies, where she first saw the benefits of DBT. Furthering her training, she completed the DBT Skills Introduction through Behavioral Tech and the necessary courses through Postpartum Support International for certification in Perinatal Mental Health. Emily completed her internship at Usawa Wellness Services, where working primarily with clients with personality disorders, anxiety, depression, PTSD, and perinatal mental health disorders. She implemented a DBT skills group and a mindfulness group during her time at Usawa.
Emily is certified in Perinatal Mental Health and is currently pursuing her DBT Foundational
Training with Behavioral Tech. Emily is supervised by Lori Prado, LPC-S. Outside of her clinical
work, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, reading, and being outdoors.
